Why my MTD Single-Stage Snow Thrower engine fails to start?
    • M
      megan46Jul 26, 2025
Your MTD Snow Blower engine might fail to start due to several reasons: the choke not being in the ON position, a disconnected spark plug wire, an empty or stale fuel tank, the engine not being primed, a faulty spark plug, a blocked fuel line, the safety key not being fully inserted, or the fuel shut-off valve being closed. To resolve this, ensure the choke is in the ON position, connect the spark plug wire, fill the tank with fresh gasoline, prime the engine, clean or replace the spark plug, clean the fuel line, fully insert the safety key, and open the fuel shut-off valve.

If your MTD Snow Blower engine is running erratically, it could be due to the unit running on CHOKE, a blocked fuel line or stale fuel, or water or dirt in the fuel system. Try moving the choke lever to the OFF position, cleaning the fuel line and refilling the tank with fresh gasoline, or draining the fuel tank and refilling it with fresh fuel.

    • W
      William StephensonAug 7, 2025
If your MTD Snow Blower isn't discharging snow, it could be due to a clogged chute assembly, a foreign object lodged in the auger, or a loose or damaged auger belt. Immediately stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before cleaning the chute assembly and inside of the auger housing with a clean-out tool or stick. Also, remove any foreign object from the auger.

Why is my MTD Single-Stage Snow Thrower Snow Blower losing power?
    • P
      Phillip BrownAug 12, 2025
Your MTD Snow Blower might be losing power because the spark plug wire is loose, the gas cap vent hole is plugged, or the exhaust port is plugged. To fix this, connect and tighten the spark plug wire and remove any ice or snow from the gas cap, ensuring the vent hole is clear.
