How to fix a Napoleon Stove that feeds pellets but won't ignite?
    • G
      gibsonanaAug 25, 2025
If your Napoleon Stove is feeding pellets but will not ignite, start by ensuring that the air intake hole on the side of the igniter for the ignitor tube is clear and free of blockages. Also, ensure that the burnpot is correctly seated in the burner housing, with the locating notch engaged with the ignitor and the burnpot sitting flat. If these steps don't resolve the issue, test the ignitor by applying power directly to it and observing if the tip glows within two minutes. If it doesn't glow, the ignitor is defective and needs replacement. Finally, check if the control board is sending the correct voltage (115 volts) to the ignitor during startup. If the voltage is lower, inspect the wiring for issues; if no wiring problems are found, the control board may be defective.

Why does my Napoleon Stove have a smoke smell coming into the home?
    • W
      Wayne DuranAug 26, 2025
If you smell smoke coming back into your home from your Napoleon Stove, it could be due to a leak in the vent pipe system. Inspect all vent pipe connections and make sure they are sealed with RTV silicone that has a temperature rating of 260°C (500°F) or higher and sealed joints with UL-181-AP foil tape. Also, ensure the square to round adapter piece on the combustion blower has been properly sealed with the same RTV. Another potential cause is a deteriorated gasket on the combustion blower, so inspect both gaskets and replace them if necessary.

Why does the convection blower on my Napoleon Stove shut off and come back on?
    • B
      Brenda SimonAug 29, 2025
If the convection blower in your Napoleon Stove shuts off and comes back on, it may be overheating and tripping the high limit switch. Try lubricating the convection blower and cleaning any dust off the windings and fan blades. If lubricating the blower doesn't help, the blower itself may be defective. Another potential cause is an electronic control panel malfunction. Test the current going to the convection blower; if no power is being sent to the blower when it shuts off during operation, the control board is likely defective.

Why does soot accumulate so fast on the glass of my Napoleon Stove?
    • D
      Diana BeckAug 31, 2025
If soot accumulates quickly on the glass of your Napoleon Stove, and the flame appears lazy, dark, and has black tips after the appliance has been on for a while, and the burnpot overfills, it may be because the appliance or vent pipe is dirty, restricting airflow through the burnpot. In this case, follow all cleaning procedures in the maintenance section of the manual. Another possible cause is improper vent pipe installation. Blocked burnpot holes or a blockage in the air intake pipe can also contribute to this issue. A circuit board malfunction may also be the cause. Poor quality pellets may also be the problem. Also, the trim setting of the combustion blower on the high feed rate may be too low.

What causes the high limit switch to keep tripping on my Napoleon Stove?
    • A
      abbottzacharySep 1, 2025
If the high limit switch keeps tripping on your Napoleon Stove, it could be due to the convection blower overheating. Try cleaning any dust from the winding and fan blades. If cleaning the blower does not help, the blower may be defective. Another possibility is a power surge or brown-out situation. Finally, the high limit switch itself may be malfunctioning and need replacement.

Why is the flame so active on pilot (low feed) on my Napoleon Stove?
    • K
      Kenneth ValdezSep 3, 2025
If you notice a very active flame on the pilot (low feed) setting of your Napoleon Stove, and it seems like the consumption of pellets is high, it could be that the flame is very aggressive on the low feed setting. To resolve this, press and hold the auger feed button and the heat down to decrease the low feed rate setting. If only the #3 light is on, the appliance is in the default setting. Trim the feed rate down one setting, #2 light will be on. Trimming down #2, the #1 light will be on. Try burning the appliance.

Why does my Napoleon Pellet stove accumulate soot on the glass so fast?
    • L
      Laurie RussellSep 5, 2025
Rapid soot accumulation on the glass of your Napoleon pellet stove, accompanied by a lazy, dark flame with black tips and an overfilling burn pot, can be attributed to several factors: * A dirty appliance or vent pipe restricting airflow. * Improperly installed vent pipe. * Blocked burn pot holes. * Blockage in the air intake pipe. * Circuit board malfunction. * Poor quality pellets. * Combustion blower trim setting being too low. To resolve this, ensure you follow all cleaning procedures, inspect the venting system, clean the burn pot, check the air intake pipe, evaluate the circuit board, try different pellets, and adjust the combustion blower trim setting.

Why does my Napoleon NPS45 Pellet stove smell like smoke inside my house?
    • S
      Sara SmithSep 12, 2025
If you're experiencing a smoke smell coming from your Napoleon pellet stove back into your home, there are a couple of possible causes: * A leak in the vent pipe system: Inspect all vent pipe connections and seal them with RTV silicone (500°F or higher) and UL-181-AP foil tape. Also, ensure the square to round adapter piece on the combustion blower is properly sealed. * A deteriorated gasket on the combustion blower: Inspect both gaskets on the combustion blower and replace them if necessary.

What causes the convection blower on my Napoleon NPS45 to shut off and come back on?
    • S
      smithdanielSep 13, 2025
The convection blower in your Napoleon pellet stove might be shutting off and then restarting due to: * Overheating and tripping the high limit switch: Try lubricating the convection blower and cleaning any dust off the windings and fan blades. If this doesn't resolve the issue, the blower may be defective. * Electronic control panel malfunction: Test the current going to the convection blower. If no power is being sent to the blower when it shuts off during operation, the control board is defective.

What to do if my Napoleon NPS45 appliance feeds pellets but will not ignite?
    • T
      Tabitha FrenchSep 15, 2025
If your Napoleon pellet stove feeds pellets but fails to ignite, consider these potential causes: * Blockage in the igniter tube or inlet: Ensure the air intake hole on the side of the igniter housing (back of the firewall) is clear. * Burnpot not seated correctly: Place the burnpot so that the locating notch engages with the ignitor, and the burnpot sits flat. * Defective ignitor: Apply power directly to the ignitor and observe the tip. It should glow within two minutes; if it doesn't, the ignitor is defective. * Control board not sending power to the ignitor: Check the voltage to the ignitor during startup. It should be at full current (115 volts). If lower, check the wiring. If the wiring is fine, the board is defective.
