Enginebelts
NOTE:Checktheconditionofthefanandairpumpbeltsafterevery50hoursofoperation.Checkbelttensionafter
every300hoursofoperation.
Fanandalternatorbelt
Thebelt-(1)thatdrivesthecoolingfanandalternatoris
locatedatthefrontoftheengine.
When5 kg(11 lb)ofpressureisappliedmidwaybetween
thebeltpulleys,acorrectlytightenedbeltwilldeect5 mm
(0.2 in).atpoint(A).
Ifthefanbeltisslipping,fanefciencyislowered,resulting
intheenginerunningtoohot.orthealternatornotcharging
Ifthebeltistootight,thelifeofthealternatorbearingwill
beshortened.Ifthefanbeltshowssignsofcrackingor
fraying,installanewone.

Airpumpbelt
Thebelt(2)thatdrivestheengineairpumpislocatedat
thefrontoftheengine.
When5 kg(11 lb)ofpressureisappliedmidwaybetween
thebeltpulleys,acorrectlytightenedbeltwilldeect
10 mm(0.4 in).atpoint(A).
Iftheairpumpbeltisslipping,pumpefciencyislowered.
Resultinginthe(DPF)burningnotoperatingatahigh
enoughtemperatureordifcultyinstartingburner.Ifthe
beltistootight,thelifeofthepumpbearingwillbeshort-
ened.Ifthefanbeltshowssignsofcrackingorfraying,
installanewone.
