Letthesystemcool.Turnthellercaptotherstnotchandallowanypressuretoescape,andthen
removethellercap.Loosentherecoverytankcapslowlytoallowanypressuretoescape.

Drainingandushingthecoolingsystem
NOTE:Drainandushtheradiatorandengineblockev-
ery1000hoursofusageor24months,whichevercomes
rst.Rellwitha50/50mixtureofpermanentantifreeze
andclearwater.
Todrainthecoolingsystem:
1.Useasuitablereceptacletocatchtheusedcoolant.
Removetheradiatorcapandopenthedrainvalve(1)
ontheleft-sideofradiatortodraintheradiatorand
drainplug(2)onrightsideofengineblocktodrain
engineblock.
2.Afterthecoolanthasdrained,placeawaterhosein
theradiatorllerneckandrunwaterthroughthesys-
tem.Whenwaterisowingfromtheblockdrainplug
portstarttheengine.Whenthewaterowingfromthe
blockportisfreefromcolorationandsediment,stopthe
engineandremovethehose.Allowallwatertodrain
fromthesystemthroughtheradiatordrainvalveand
blockport.
3.Closetheradiatordrainvalveandreinstalltheblock
drainplug.Slowlyrellthesystemwitha50/50solution
ofethyleneglycolantifreezeandwater.Filluntilthe
coolantlevelisapproximately4
cm(1.6
in)belowthe
bottomofthellerneck.Donotllbeyondthislevel.
4.Cleantheradiatorcapandcapsealandinstallthecap.

5.Addcoolanttothecoolantreservoir(3)untiluidlevel
isbetweenthe“LOW”and“HIGH”linesonthesideof
thereservoir.
6.Runtheengineuntilnormaloperatingtemperatureis
reached,thenstoptheengine.Recheckthecoolant
levelwhentheengineiscoldandaddadditionalcoolant
asnecessary.
NOTICE:Neverruntheenginewhenthecoolingsystemis
empty.Donotaddcoldwaterorcoldantifreezesolutionif
theengineishot.
