This torque chart is based on the following assumptions:
1) Bolts to ISO 898-1 "Mechanical properties of fasteners made of carbon steel and alloy steel"
2) For "unplated" bolts, all grades:
Hex head bolts
Black oxide steel bolt with a rolled & oiled thread, no finish on steel nut
Prevailing torque includes Nylock (minimum prevailing torque figure assumed)
Medium Clearance holes to ISO 273
Bolt tightening condition = Yield factor of 75%
3) For "plated" bolts, all grades:
Hex head bolts
Zinc plated oiled (rolled or cut) steel external thread with no finish on steel internal thread
Prevailing torque includes Nylock (minimum prevailing torque figure assumed)
Medium Clearance holes to ISO 273
Bolt tightening condition = Yield factor of 75%
Figures quoted in Nm have been calculated in Nm and then rounded to the nearest whole number.
Figures quoted in lb-ft have been calculated in Nm, converted using a factor of 0.737561 and then
rounded.
