Use the joystick to navigate through the data fields; to modify the contents of 
a field, select it and press the joystick. 
• See explanation about the Auto Login field in section 2.2. 
• Set the Sounds field Off to disable all sound notifications. Setting it back 
On will restore the use of sounds. 
• The Server Address field stores the address of the Smart server. 
• The Server Port field stores the port of the Smart server. 
 
NOTES 
Disabling sounds in your device profile automatically applies for Smart IM, there is no need to 
explicitly disable sounds in this screen also. 
Do not modify the Server Address and Server Port fields without consulting your system 
administrator. 
The Options key does not exist in the My Status tab of the Main Screen; if you are currently in this 
tab, start by moving the joystick to the left , to switch to one of the other tabs. 
After modifying your settings: 
• Press the Save key to save your changes and go back. 
• Press the Cancel key to discard your changes and go back. 
 
2.9 Connection Failures 
The connection between Smart IM and the Smart server may be lost due to 
various reasons (e.g., network failure, low signal etc). In such a case, Smart 
IM will wait for a few seconds, then automatically try reconnecting to the 
server, while a notification message pops up, as described in the attached 
figure. 
• Press the OK key to skip the waiting period and immediately reconnect to 
the server. 
• Select  Cancel to log out from the server and cancel all reconnection 
attempts. 
Chat
screens which were active before the connection failure will be restored 
upon reconnecting to the Smart server.
