Product Concept
The Passport 4400 integrates voice, fax, video and data traffic over a single WAN
connection, eliminating the need for separate, parallel branch network
equipment and links.
Advanced bandwidth and voice technologies optimize bandwidth usage for
maximum throughput and voice quality.
Data is transmitted from different WAN sources using a unique frame relay-
based network link protocol, the Passport Access Network Link (PANL). PANL
fragments long frames when voice frames need to be inserted. This reduces both
delay and delay variation. PANL then reassembles frames at the other end of
the link. The result is reduced WAN overhead and optional handling of voice
traffic.
