Battery handling precautions
Inadditiontothebatteriesprovidedwiththe
camera,thefollowingtypesofbatterycanbe
used.Choosethepowersourcebestsuitedto
thesituation.
AA alkaline batteries
Thenumberofpicturesthatyoucantakemay
varyconsiderablydependingonthebattery
manufacturerandshootingconditions.
AA NiMH batteries (rechargeable batteries)
Beingrechargeable,OlympusNiMHbatteries
arereusableandeconomical.Fordetails,refer
totheinstructionmanualforyourcharger.
CAUTION:
Thereisariskofexplosionifthebatteryis
replacedwiththeincorrectbatterytype.
Disposeoftheusedbatteryfollowingthe

Wipegentlywithasoftcloth.Ifthecamerais
verydirty,soaktheclothinmildsoapywater
andwringwell.Wipethecamerawiththe
dampclothandthendryitwithadrycloth.If
youhaveusedthecameraatthebeach,usea
clothsoakedincleanwaterandwrungwell.

Wipegentlywithasoftcloth.
Lens
Blowdustoffthelenswithacommercial
blower,thenwipegentlywithalenscleaner.
 Donotusestrongsolventssuchasbenzene
oralcoholorchemicallytreatedcloth.
 Moldmayformonthelenssurfaceifthe
lensisleftdirty.
Storage
Whenstoringthecameraforextendedperiods,
removethebattery,ACadapterandcard,and
keepinacool,dryplacethatiswellventilated.
Periodicallyinsertthebatteryandtestthe
camerafunctions.
 Avoidleavingthecamerainplaceswhere
chemicalproductsarehandledsincethis
mayresultincorrosion.
