3.2 Inspection and Testing
Inspecting the product
Visually inspect the product. Make sure that it has:
- no corrosion
- no dents
- no scratches
Inspect the HF-resection electrode and the HF cable
Warped electrodes, defective insulation and cracked or
irregular cutting loops represent a danger to the patient and
the surgeon.
Never try to bend irregular cutting loops into shape. Inspect
the HF cable for defective insulation.
Inspect the generator plug for deformed pins.
Do not use defective instruments.
Test the instrument
• Operate the handle.
Make sure that the working element moves smoothly.
Damaged product
If the product is damaged or does not function properly,
contact an Olympus representative or an authorized service
center.
No repairs
For safety reasons, defective HF-resection electrodes must
not be repaired. Replace a defective HF-resection electrode
with a new one.
