8.2 USB Interface
The NLV-5201 can use either USB interface:
• Human Interface Device Class (HID)
• Communication Device Class (COM)
The COM interface allows bidirectional serial communication, which supports transmitting
commands from the host computer to the imager scanner, as well as receiving barcode data. To
use USB-COM, you need to install the latest version of the Opticon USB-COM driver on your
host device.
If the host COM post is not open, the imager scanner cannot send data and will emit an error
sound.
Note: With the USB-COM interface, the imager scanner can transfer images.
