Overview

This document describes the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a device designed to enhance driving safety by monitoring tire pressure and temperature in real-time. It aims to prevent accidents, extend tire life, and reduce fuel consumption by alerting the driver to abnormal tire conditions.

Function Description

The TPMS continuously monitors tire pressure and temperature. When any tire's pressure or temperature deviates from preset thresholds, the system transmits signals to activate an alarm and display digital figures to warn the driver. The system consists of a display unit (receiver) installed in the vehicle and wireless transmitter sensors installed in each tire.

Key Functions:

  • Real-time Monitoring: Continuously displays tire pressure and temperature for all tires simultaneously.
  • Alarm System: Activates visual and audible warnings for low tire pressure, high tire pressure, high tire temperature, and low battery voltage.
  • Unit Conversion: Allows switching between kPa, psi, and bar for pressure units, and °C and °F for temperature units.
  • Tire Rotation and Replacement Support: Provides specific modes for resetting sensor positions after tire rotation (front to rear, diagonal, front diagonal/rear parallel) or single sensor replacement.

Usage Features

Installation:

  • Professional Installation Recommended: The system requires qualified personnel for proper installation, especially for mounting transmitter sensors inside tires.
  • Two-part Installation: Involves setting up the display unit in the vehicle and installing transmitter sensors in each tire. It is recommended to install the display unit first.
  • Display Unit Power Connection: Can be plugged into the cigarette lighter socket or wired directly into the fuse box (ACC, VCC, Negative) for 24-hour signal reception, with the LED light turning on only when ACC is active.
  • Sensor Identification: Each sensor is numbered (RF-1 for Right Front, RR-2 for Right Rear, LR-3 for Left Rear, LF-4 for Left Front) to ensure correct positioning.
  • Valve and Screw Replacement: New tire valves and screws (Nylok screw) must be used whenever a wireless transmitter sensor is installed or reinstalled, or during tire rotations and changes.
  • Tire Balancing: Wheels must be balanced after TPMS sensor fitting to ensure safe operation.

Operation:

  • Automatic Monitoring: Once installed and powered, the system automatically monitors tires.
  • Display Modes: The function key allows switching between displaying pressure unit, temperature unit, battery voltage, or both pressure and temperature units in turns.
  • Unit Selection: Pressing the function key for 3 seconds allows cycling through kPa, psi, bar for pressure, and °C, °F for temperature.
  • Alert Response: Upon receiving an alert, the driver should reduce speed and stop at a safe location to inspect and service the tire. The alarm can be turned off by pressing the function key.

Setup Method:

  • Preset Values: The system comes with pre-set alert figures. Drivers can adjust these values by following the professional tire technician's instructions.
  • Adjusting Low Pressure Warning: Press the setup key for 3 seconds to enter low pressure setup mode. Use the function key to adjust the psi/kPa/bar value (range 18-35 psi, 120-250 kPa, 1.2-2.5 bar). Press the setup key to exit.
  • Adjusting High Pressure Warning: After low pressure setup, the system automatically enters high pressure setup mode. Use the function key to adjust the psi/kPa/bar value (range 40-60 psi, 280-420 kPa, 2.8-4.2 bar). Press the setup key to exit.
  • Adjusting High Temperature Warning: After high pressure setup, the system automatically enters high temperature setup mode. Use the function key to adjust the °C/°F value (range 60-100°C, 140-212°F). Press the setup key to exit.

Reset for Tire Changes and Rotation: The system provides five modes to reset sensor positions, ensuring accurate display after tire maintenance:

  • Mode 1: Front to Rear tires exchanged: Rotate front to rear and rear to front. Press both setup and function keys for 5 seconds to enter mode 1. Press setup key for 1 second to confirm.
  • Mode 2: Tires diagonal exchanged: Rotate tires diagonally. Press both setup and function keys for 5 seconds, then re-press function key for 1 second to enter mode 2. Press setup key for 1 second to confirm.
  • Mode 3: Front tires diagonal exchanged, and Rear tires parallel changed to Front: Rotate front tires diagonally to the rear, and rear tires parallel to the front. Press both setup and function keys for 5 seconds, then re-press function key twice to enter mode 3. Press setup key for 1 second to confirm.
  • Mode 4: Random re-position tires: For arbitrary tire repositioning. Press both setup and function keys for 5 seconds, then repeatedly press function key until "4" is displayed to enter mode 4. Deflate and inflate each tire (starting with No.1) below 26 psi to reconfigure its sensor.
  • Mode 5: Single sensor replaced: For replacing a broken sensor. Press both setup and function keys for 5 seconds, then repeatedly press function key until "5" is displayed to enter mode 5. Press setup key to select the tire, then deflate and inflate the tire with the new sensor below 26 psi to reconfigure.

Important Warnings for Reset Procedures:

  • Do not turn off vehicle power during reset processes to avoid interruption.
  • After repositioning, verify that the display correctly detects all tire pressures. If not, reset and follow instructions again.

Maintenance Features

Sensor Replacement:

  • When rotating tires, changing tires, or replacing wireless transmitter sensors, new tire valves and screws must be used.
  • The system supports single sensor replacement (Mode 5) to reconfigure the ID position of a new sensor.

Troubleshooting (Alarm Instruction):

  • "E1" or "E2" Display: If the receiver cannot receive signals from wireless transmitter sensors for over 20 minutes, "E1" (all sensors not receivable) or "E2" (one sensor not receivable) will be displayed. This could be due to RF interference or sensor damage/battery consumption.
  • Battery Life: Sensor batteries are designed to last over 7 years under normal conditions. Continuous warning signals will consume battery faster.
