1.3 Leakage Current Hot Check

1. Plug the AC power cord directly into the AC outlet. Do not use an isolation transformer for
this check.
2. Connect the test jig shown in Fig.1 between each exposed metallic part on the monitor and an
earth ground such as a water pipe.
3. Use an AC voltmeter having high impedance (1 kΩ/V or higher) to measure the voltage.
4. Measure the voltage at each exposed metallic part.
5. The voltage at any point must be less than 0.25 V[rms].
6. A Ieakage current tester (Simpson Model 228 or equivalent) may be used to make the hot
checks. In this case, the current must be less than 0.5 mA.
7. If the reading is outside of the specified limit, the monitor must be repaired and rechecked
before it is returned to the customer because of a possibility of an electric shock.
