In sunlight, under incandescent lights or in other such conditions where the colour of white
takes on a reddish or bluish tinge, this item adjusts to the colour of white which is closest
to what is seen by the eye in accordance with the light source.
Applicable modes:

• The optimal white balance will differ depending on the type of halogen lighting being recorded
under so use [AWB] or [
Ò].
• The white balance setting is memorised even if the camera is turned off. (However, the white
balance setting for a scene mode returns to [AWB] when the scene mode is changed.)
• In the scene modes listed below, white balance is fixed to [AWB].

∫ Setting the white balance manually
This will set the values for the white balance. Use it in accordance with
the recording conditions.
1 Select [Ò] and then press 1.
2 Aim the camera at a sheet of white paper etc. so that the
frame in the centre is filled by the white object only and then
press [MENU/SET].
