  Your Pentair Water Pump may not prime for several reasons. It could be due to no water in the strainer pot, which can be solved by adding water to the strainer pot. Other potential causes include a loose lid (tighten the strainer pot lid), a damaged lid O-ring (replace it), a water level below the skimmer (raise the water level), a clogged strainer or skimmer basket (clean them), a closed valve in the piping system (open the closed valve), an air leak in the suction line (fix the leak), incorrect pump height (reinstall within the specified height), or the pump shaft rotating in the wrong direction (correct the rotation).
