Explains how dirty water enters, passes through sand, and clean water exits.
Explains reversing water flow to remove dirt and debris from the filter bed.
Upon receipt, check filter pallet(s) and cartons for damage, notify carrier if damaged.
Position filter on a permanent level slab, ensuring visibility of controls and access for servicing.
Mark holes for anchors on slab, install anchors per manufacturer's specifications.
Install piping for proper filtration and backwash, dry fit first. Support piping with bracing and hangers.
Check laterals, diffusers, and couplings for loose, damaged, or missing parts. Replace if necessary.
Test system with water, check for leaks at 50 psi max. Do not use air or gas for testing.
Consult Appendix B for media specs. Install gravel and sand media layers as instructed.
Backwash each tank for at least 5 minutes until wastewater runs clear. Ensure adequate flow rate.
Run system in normal mode. Check for sand return to pool; if present, turn off immediately.
Backwash when pressure increases by 10 psi over clean filter pressure, or on a time schedule.
