How to fix a Pentair Water Pump motor that will not run?
    • J
      Jason KingAug 10, 2025
If your Pentair Water Pump motor won't run, first ensure the switch is on. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If that doesn't work, disconnect the power and replace the starting switch, referring to the wiring instructions. Also, disconnect the power, then check and tighten all wiring connections. Be cautious of capacitor voltage and discharge the capacitor with an insulated screwdriver if necessary. If unsure, consult an electrician. Lastly, disconnect the power and file the contacts with an emery board or nail file.

What to do if Pentair STA-RITE MS does not deliver water to full capacity?
    • D
      Daniel DavisAug 15, 2025
If your Pentair Water Pump isn't delivering water to its full capacity, it could be due to a few reasons. If the water level in your well is lower than expected (more than 25 feet), you might need a deep well jet. Corroded or limed steel piping can also cause excess friction, so replace it with plastic pipe if possible, or new steel pipe. Additionally, ensure that any offset piping is adequately sized; if it's too small, use larger piping.

Why does my Pentair STA-RITE MS keep cycling on and off?
    • R
      rmitchellAug 20, 2025
If your Pentair Water Pump cycles too frequently or doesn't shut off, try these steps: First, disconnect the power and adjust or replace the pressure switch. Ensure all faucets are closed. Then, clean the venturi, nozzle, or impeller. Consider whether a deep well jet pump might be more suitable for your situation. Drain the tank to the air volume control port and inspect the AVC for any defects. Check all connections for air leaks. Also, inspect and potentially replace the foot valve. Finally, disconnect the power, relieve the pressure, and check the air pressure in the tank using a tire pressure gauge. If it's below the cut-in setting (30-50 PSI), add air until it's 2 PSI less than the cut-in setting. Check the air valve for leaks with soapy water and replace the core if needed.

Why does Pentair STA-RITE MS motor run hot and overload kicks off?
    • M
      michael02Aug 26, 2025
If your Pentair Water Pump motor runs hot and the overload kicks off, refer to the wiring instructions. Check with your power company and, if necessary, install heavier wiring if the current wire size is too small according to the electrical/wiring chart. Also, review the section on too frequent cycling, as this can contribute to overheating.

Why air spurts from faucets with Pentair Water Pump?
    • C
      christinawardAug 30, 2025
If you're experiencing air spurts from your faucets while using your Pentair Water Pump, it indicates that the pump is drawing air. When the pump has properly primed, it should pump solid water without any air. Check the suction pipe joints for leaks using soapy water. If the issue persists, consult the factory about installing a sleeve in the well. If possible, lower the foot valve; otherwise, restrict the pump discharge.

What to do if Pentair STA-RITE MS runs but no water is delivered?
    • K
      Kevin MarshallNov 4, 2025
If your Pentair Water Pump runs but doesn't deliver water, the issue could stem from several causes. If it's a new installation, ensure proper priming and check for air leaks in the suction line, AVC, and ejector using soapy water. A leaking foot valve or check valve could also be the culprit, so consider replacing them. For pumps already in use, air leaks in the suction line or a water level below the suction pipe inlet might be the problem. Lower the suction line into the water and re-prime. If the water level exceeds 25 feet, a deep well pump may be necessary. Also, check for blockages by cleaning the foot valve, strainer, ejector, or impeller. A stuck check valve or foot valve should be replaced, and frozen pipes need thawing. If the foot valve or strainer is buried, raise them or clea...
