Why does my Phase Technology Media Converter have no power?
    • R
      Ronald SandersAug 16, 2025
If your Phase Technology Media Converter has no power, it could be due to an incoming circuit breaker continually tripping, which may require IGBT troubleshooting. Alternatively, blown fuses could be the cause. Refer to page 35 for instructions on replacing fuses. Note that if the fuses are blown, you might also need to replace the filter capacitors and/or the power board if the MOVs are damaged.

      Amy PorterAug 20, 2025
LED lights flickering or electrical noise issues with your Phase Technology Media Converter can be caused by electromagnetic interference. To resolve this, first ensure that the problem stops when the Phase Technology unit is powered off, and check the grounding. If using multiple LED lights, try installing an incandescent light in the circuit, as LED lighting can be prone to noise. You might also consider installing an EMI filter on the phase converter input.

If the load is not operating, several factors could be at play. If a fault code is displayed, consult Table 21 for guidance and clear the fault by power cycling the converter. Removing the load can help determine if the issue is internal or external to the unit. Also, check if AUX1 and AUX2 are open and inspect the jumpers or switches connected to them. Ensure that the input terminals L1 and L2 are energized by checking the main input fuses or breaker, as well as the secondary circuit fuses (refer to Figures 33-35). For elevator applications experiencing overcurrent faults, verify that the Phase Technology converter is correctly sized according to elevator specifications. Finally, for AUX terminal leads longer than 20 ft, shielded cable is required.

If your Phase Technology Media Converter has no power, there are a couple of potential causes. First, the incoming circuit breaker might be continually tripping, which may require IGBT troubleshooting. Second, blown fuses could be the issue. Refer to page 32 for instructions on replacing fuses. Note that if fuses are blown, you might also need to replace the filter capacitors and/or the power board if the MOVs are damaged.

If you're experiencing flickering LED lights or other electrical noise issues, electromagnetic interference could be the cause. To address this, first ensure that the problem doesn't persist when the Phase Technology unit is powered off. Check the grounding. Note that LED lighting can be prone to noise/flickering when all LED lights are being used; installing an incandescent light in a given circuit can often resolve these problems. You might also consider installing an EMI filter on the phase converter input.

If the load isn't operating with your Phase Technology Media Converter, it could be due to several reasons. A fault code might be displayed, so consult Table 23 for guidance and clear the fault by power cycling the converter. Remove the load to see if the problem is internal or external. Also, check if the AUX1 and AUX2 inputs are open and verify the jumpers or switches connected to them. For AUX terminal leads longer than 20 ft, ensure you're using shielded cable, as corrupted signals to the Control Terminals can cause this issue. Check the main input fuses or breaker and the secondary circuit fuses, referring to Figure 33 - Figure 35. Finally, if it's an elevator application, an overcurrent fault may be the cause; verify that the Phase Technology converter is correctly sized for the elev...
