Function Description

The Philips TAP4805 is a portable DVD player designed to play digital video discs conforming to the universal DVD Video standard. It offers true cinema picture quality and stereo or multi-channel sound, depending on the disc and playback setup. Users can select sound tracks, subtitle languages, and different angles of view. The player also allows for parental control to restrict the playback of discs unsuitable for children. Usage Features

Battery and Power:

  • The device features a rechargeable battery. Charging is done via a supplied AC adaptor or car charger. A red indicator light signifies charging, turning yellow when fully charged (approximately 3.5 hours for a full charge).
  • The main unit has a DC IN 12V socket for power supply and a DC OUT jack to power the monitor.

Connectivity:

Playback Features:

  • Disc Playback: Supports various DVD and CD formats.
  • USB/SD/MMC Playback: Allows playing media from USB storage devices and SD/MMC cards.
  • Photo Playback: During a photo slideshow, the remote control can be used to access photo preview, flip photos, rotate photos, and play photos sequentially.
  • Repeat Play: Options to repeat the current title, chapter, track, or the entire disc/USB contents. Can be cancelled by holding REPEAT until [Off] is displayed.
  • Skip Play: Allows skipping to a specific title, chapter, track, or time using the GOTO function and number keys.
  • Auto Play: If enabled, the player will automatically play disc contents after reading.

Settings:

  • System Setup: TV System, POWER RESUME (resume playback after power-off), AUTO PLAY, TV type, Password, Rating, Default (reset to factory defaults).
  • Language Setup: OSD Language, Audio Lang, Subtitle Lang, Menu Lang.
  • Audio Setup: Key (lifting/falling adjustment), EQ (equalizer for different music styles: STANDARD, CLASSIC, ROCK, JAZZ, POP).
  • Video Setup: Adjust Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation, and Sharpness.
  • Digital Setup: Dual mono (Stereo, Mono L, Mono R, Mix Mono).
  • Auto Standby: Enables/disables automatic standby after 15 minutes of inactivity.
  • Monitor Settings (accessed via monitor's MENU button): PICTURE (Brightness, Contrast, Color, English subtitle language), VOLUME, OPTION (RESET to factory default), SYSTEM (S-ROLOC, AUTO, video type PAL/AUTO/NTSC), CLOCK (sleep and wake times).

Car Usage:

  • Includes headrest mount straps (2pcs) for attaching the main unit and monitor to car seat headrests.
  • The remote control can be used by pointing it towards the remote sensor of the main unit.

Maintenance Features

General Care:

  • Do not insert objects other than discs into the disc compartment.
  • Avoid inserting warped or cracked discs.
  • Remove discs if not using the product for an extended period.
  • Clean the product only with a microfiber cloth.

Software Update:

  • Users can download software updates from the Philips website.
  • The software file (named 8202KD.BIN) should be copied to a USB drive.
  • Insert the USB drive into the player (with no disc inside) to automatically upgrade the software.
  • It is crucial not to interrupt the power supply during a software update, as this can render the machine unusable.

  • Overheating Risk: Do not install in confined spaces. Ensure at least 10 cm ventilation space. Do not cover ventilation slots. Do not use in tropical climates.
  • Contamination Risk: Do not mix batteries. Replace batteries with the same or equivalent type. Dispose of batteries properly.
