4.0 INSTALLATION OF THE SMOKE DAMPER
DT2010328-00
The hearth is provided with a smoke damper with articulated rod
which aligns with the angle of inclination to which the damper is
being set. For installation purposes proceed as follows:
- Position the damper [2] in its seat and keep it in a vertical position.
- Insert the rod [1] fully into the damper [2]. During this operation,
the tongue [3] remains facing downwards. (Fig. 31)
- Proceed with the installation of the smoke outlet pipe and its
c
onnection to the flue as indicated in the section with the same
name.
- Construct or finish the preparation of the lining and of the facing
wall.
- Insert the wooden plug provided into the box [4] and thread it onto
the rod [1].
- Then determine the exact position of the box which must follow
the angle of the facing wall. By moving the box with the plug, the
rod [1] remains as a guide and it will thus be possible to determine
the ideal position of the box, rod and facing wall.
- Cut off the rod [1] at 1 cm inside the outer face of the wall.
- Thread on the plate [5] and screw it to the box [4].
- Fit the handle [6], ensuring that the position of the damper
corresponds to that of the plate.
If the facing wall is of fire resistant plasterboard (Fig. 33),
the box [4] is secured to the wall by screwing on the plate [5]
after turning up the side edges.
