SECTION 4 - PROGRAMMING GUIDE
PXI/PXIe LVDT/RVDT/Resolver Simulator Module 41/43-670
pickering
For controlling resolver rotation there are several functions available:
“Start Rotation” - Will start the rotation based on the current set values shown in the “Speed in RPM” and
“Number of Turns” text boxes.
“Stop Rotation” - Will immediately stop the current rotation and it will not continue or change until “Start
Rotation” is selected or the panel is reset (either through changing the card selected or clicking on the “Card
Reset” button on the Conguration page).
“Set Number of Turns” - This will set the number of full rotations as shown in the adjacent text box.
“Set Rotation Speed” - This button gets the value from the adjacent text box and sets it as the speed of
rotation.
Zone 4 - This contains sliders and buttons that enable the user to set custom phase delays and invert the channel
outputs:
“Manual Phase Delay A” - This slider allows the manual setting phase delay for the bank’s channel A output.
“Manual Phase Delay B” - This slider allows the manual setting phase delay for the bank’s channel B output.
Invert A Output (Off): This button toggles the inversion of the channel A output. The button’s text changes to
reect the current state of inversion (“Off” = not inverted - “On” = inverted).
Invert B Output (Off): This button toggles the inversion of the channel B output. The button’s text changes to
reect the current state of inversion (“Off” = not inverted - “On” = inverted).
Zone 5 - This contains further adjustments for the panel’s controls
“Set Sample Buffer Size” - Sets the sample buffer size from the adjacent text box. This can be in the range
from 1 to 500, increasing or decreasing the value can yield a more stable read frequency result.
“Bank 1 = Open” - This button toggles between the internal excitation modes; “Open”, “Local”, or “Internal”.
This mirrors the bank’s “Input Select” setting shown on the “Conguration” page (changing one will affect the
other).
“Load Data” - This will generate a waveform if “Bank 1 = Internal” is selected, and will based it on the
frequency and amplitude that have been entered into the adjacent text boxes. The Frequency range has been
optimised for 250Hz to 20KHz although the card is capable of 300Hz to 3KHz.
“Read Input Voltage” - This will read the voltage level of an externally applied excitation signal and display it in
the adjacent text box.
“Track Phase (On)” - Phase tracking can be toggled off and on using this button, the default is “On”. The
button’s text will change from “Track Phase (On)” to “Track Phase (Off)” to indicate the current state. The
defalt condition will be restored when the selected card is changed or the panel is reset.
