Example – Multiple Current Paths
Often on power supply rails, there can be several paths from the Drive Source to the low resistance fault.
As the current is not confined to one track, some interpretation is required.
Figure 4-6 shows the Drive Source current taking two paths to the faulty device which is drawing
approximately 120mA from the supply.

• Reading AB is 120mA.
• Reading CD is 10mA.
• Reading EF is 110mA.
In general it is better to follow the larger current path.
