5. Use drive clutch to rotate the crankshaft until the cam
chain sprocket timing marks are aligned with the
gasket surface as shown.
IMPORTANT
Intake cam sprocket should have “I” marks aligned with
the gasket surface and the exhaust cam sprocket
should have “E” marks aligned with the gasket surface.
6. Measure the valve clearance of each valve using a
feeler gauge. Record the measurement if clearance
is out of specification.
MEASUREMENT
Intake Valve Clearance:
0.006 ± 0.002" (0.15 ± 0.05 mm)
Exhaust Valve Clearance:
0.008 ± 0.002" (0.20 ± 0.05 mm)
BREATHER HOSE
Be sure breather line is routed properly and secured in
place.
CAUTION
Make sure line(s) are not kinked or pinched.
BREATHER VALVE INSPECTION
This engine is equipped with a breather valve

. The
valve is located on the front of the engine. The valve
should only allow air to pass from the engine to the
breather hose
w
and finally to the intake
e
and NOT
from the air intake to the engine. Replace as necessary.
