Brake Inspection
1. Check the brake system for
fluid leaks.
2. Check the brake pedal for
excessive travel or a spongy
feel.
3. Check the friction pads for
wear, damage and looseness.
4. Check brake discs for signs
of cracks, excessive corro-

an approved brake cleaner or
alcohol.
NOTICE: Do not apply WD-40 or any petroleum product to brake discs.
5. Inspect the brake disc spline and pad wear surface for excessive
wear. Change pads when worn to 3/64" (1 mm).
Steering Wheel Inspection
Check the steering wheel for specified freeplay and smooth operation at
the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on
page 65.
1. Position the vehicle on level ground.
2. Lightly turn the steering wheel left and right.
3. There should be 0.8"-1.0" (20-25 mm) of freeplay.
4. If there is excessive freeplay or strange noises, or the steering feels
rough or “catchy,” have the steering system inspected by an autho-
rized POLARIS dealer.
