CHECKING
FOR DAMAGED
CABLES
AND
GEARS
1. Raise rear of car and place on jack
stands.
REGULATOR
REMOVE
AND
REPLACE
(Fig. 15-1)
2.
Start engine and move transmission
shift
lever
to
"Drive"
range.
3. Remove input cable at regulator to determine
if
cable
from
transmission to regulator is
turning.
If
cable is not
turning,
check for broken cable or
stripped
transmission
speedometer
gear.
4.
If input cable is
turning
and
speedometer
was
Inoperative,
cable to
speedometer
or regulator
transfer
gear
is broken.
1.
Disconnect vacuum
hoses
and electrical
connector.
2.
Disconnect both
speedometer
cables.
3. Remove screws
holding
regulator to fender
skirt
and remove regulator.
4.
To replace, reverse above
steps.
Note proper
hookup
of vacuum
hoses
shown in Fig. 15-1.
