h) Boost
The default value for this function is 0. It ranks as one of the iGyro’s “expert functions”, and its ba-
sic purpose is to provide better stabilisation for models which are very unresponsive. In extremely
windy conditions this function may also provide a better corrective effect. The fundamental effect
of the iGyro’s Boost function is to produce a brief but very pronounced compensatory action right
at the onset of any external influence.
Caution:
- This function should only be used with care, and the value should be increased in small in-
crements, as an excessive setting will immediately cause the model to oscillate in a very
pronounced manner.
- As a basic rule we only recommend the use of this function if the “Normal” and “Heading”
modes do not provide completely satisfactory stabilisation. This is only likely to apply in the
case of unresponsive models with small control surfaces, and aircraft with thrust vector con-
trol systems.
i) Delta Limiter
The default value here is 0%, which means that the elevons (control surfaces) never run beyond the
end-point set at the transmitter, even if the pilot gives a combined aileron and elevator command
equating to full travel simultaneously. If you set the limiter to a higher value, the calibrated values
can be exceeded accordingly.
This value should be adjusted with the aileron and elevator sticks moved to full travel: ensure that
the servos do not strike their mechanical stops at any extreme of travel.
j) Gyro Sense x4
This option quadruples the gyro effect; this is often necessary with large, sluggish models in order
to obtain the optimum stabilising effect.
Caution: Select this option only if 100% gyro effect is inadequate! Selecting this option resets
all gain settings to 0%!
k) Important information on handling the iGyro in day-to-day flying
- Switching the system on
When you switch the Royal SRS on, it adopts the current stick position as Centre. For this reason
it is important to avoid touching the sticks when you switch the system on.
Since V15 a new calibration algorithm is installed which eliminates the need to keep the model
motionless in order to calibrate the sensor when you switch the system on. This means that there
is nothing further to consider when switching on.
- Adjusting the trims of one or more axes
If it becomes necessary to adjust the transmitter trims in flight mode 1 - perhaps due to a change
in Centre of Gravity or other structural modification - you need to “inform” the Royal SRS of this,
either by switching it on and off again, or by briefly selecting the ZERO GYRO menu point.
When the Royal SRS is switched on, it adopts the new centre positions.
