First, ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a surge suppressor, and that the surge suppressor is connected to a properly grounded outlet. Make sure you're using a surge suppressor that meets the necessary specifications. Also, verify that the key is correctly inserted into the console. If the power switch has tripped, wait five minutes, and then press the switch to reset it.

To correct a walking belt that's off-center or slips, use the hex key. If the belt has shifted left, turn the left idler roller screw clockwise 1/2 turn. If it has shifted right, turn the left idler roller screw counterclockwise 1/2 turn. You can also try turning both idler roller screws clockwise 1/4 of a turn.

Why does my Pro-Form PERFORMANCE 400 Treadmill walking belt slow down when I walk on it?
    • E
      Erin LewisAug 21, 2025
The walking belt might slow down if it's overtightened, which can decrease performance and potentially damage the belt. To resolve this, use the hex key to turn both idler roller screws counterclockwise 1/4 of a turn. When the belt is properly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge 2 to 3 inches off the platform. Also, the walking belt may need more lubricant.
