What to do if my Procom Gas Heater won't stay lit after releasing the control knob?
    • T
      Timothy McdanielAug 25, 2025
If the ODS/pilot lights, but the flame goes out when you release the control knob on your Procom Gas Heater, ensure the control knob is fully pressed in and held for at least 30 seconds after the pilot lights. Also, make sure the equipment shutoff valve is fully open. Check the thermocouple connection at the control valve and hand tighten it until snug, plus an additional 1/4 turn. Low gas pressure or a dirty/clogged ODS/pilot can also cause this issue; contact your gas company or clean/replace the ODS/pilot assembly. A damaged thermocouple or control valve may also be the cause, requiring replacement.

      murrayheatherAug 28, 2025
If the burner on your Procom Gas Heater doesn't light after the ODS/pilot is lit, the burner orifice may be clogged or have a diameter that is too small. Clean or replace the burner orifice. Also, low inlet gas pressure can prevent burner ignition, so contact your local gas supplier.

    • V
      vincent93Sep 2, 2025
If your Procom Gas Heater makes a whistling noise when the burner is lit, try turning the control knob to the low position and letting it warm up for a minute. Air in the gas line or blocked air passageways can also cause this. Operate the burner until the air is removed from the line and ensure minimum installation clearances are observed. A dirty or partially clogged burner orifice may also be the cause, so clean or replace it.

      jacobhaynesSep 4, 2025
If there is no spark at the ODS/pilot when the ignitor button is pressed on your Procom Gas Heater, the ignitor electrode may be positioned wrong or broken, or it may not be connected to the ignitor cable. The ignitor cable could also be pinched, wet, or broken. Additionally, the piezo ignitor could be bad or the piezo ignitor nut could be loose. Replace the electrode or ignitor cable if necessary. Free the ignitor cable if it is pinched and keep it dry. Replace the piezo ignitor if it is bad and tighten the nut holding it to the base panel.
