3.1 Installation
Remote Mode Installation Testing Using the Analog Interface
The local mode testing will validate that the Supervisor and the SENTRY 1510 are
working properly. To complete the installation testing the analog set point control
interface should be tested. The test procedure for the remote "analog" mode is
outlined below. The test should be performed with the furnace end cap sealed,
and with a process nitrogen flow rate into the furnace of 10 l/min.
1. Use the up-arrow key [] to scroll the menu to "StptMode" (set point mode).
2. To change to remote "analog" set point mode, press the star key [*]. An as-
terisk "*" should appear in front of "StptMode". Next use the up-arrow key []
(or down-arrow key []) so that the mode word "Analog" appears. Then press
the enter key [ENT]. The "*" will disappear indicating that the new mode has
been accepted. The Supervisor will now accept the 0-5 V analog set point from
the furnace controller as the SENTRY 1510 system exhaust set point.
3. From the furnace control panel, manually change the set point to the MFC port
that is connected to the SENTRY 1510 system. An entry of 10% of full scale
on the control panel should result in a displayed set point on the Supervisor of
approximately 254 (2.54 mm water column). In this case the analog signal
level should be 0.5 volts. The Supervisor is able to display what the input set
point voltage is by changing the menu item to "Aux In" (Auxiliary Input).
Auxiliary input is displayed in engineering units of volts and has a range of 0 to
5000 with an implied decimal point to the left of the third least significant digit.
The "Aux In" displayed value should be approximately 500 (.500 volts). If the
set point voltage level displayed by the Supervisor differs by more than 0.02
volts from the analog signal transmitted by the furnace controller, refer to
Section 6 for troubleshooting guidelines.
Several additional set points should be commanded by the process tool controller
to ensure that the full range of set point control is available: 25%, 50% and 75% of
full scale will command the Supervisor to the 635 (6.35 mm), 1270 (12.70 mm) and
the 1905 (19.05 mm) set point level respectively. The set point value (NOT the
actual value) displayed by the controller should be within ± 0.2 mm.
I Note: Be sure to reset all Supervisor Parameters to the Factory Settings
upon completion of the test (see Appendix C).
Remote Installation Testing using the Serial Interface
The SENTRY Supervisor supports a serial communications interface for ASCII text
messaging. The interface electrical specifications meet RS422 and RS485
specifications. Both network types support a multidrop connection of up to 64
Supervisors. Both network types use differential drivers that have high noise
immunity for total network lengths of 4000 feet.
