Overview

The QIR100H is an indoor passive infrared (PIR) detector designed for intrusion alarm systems, manufactured by Inim Electronics S.r.l. and distributed by Qtech. This device is part of the Qtech series of detectors, engineered for reliable motion detection within indoor environments.

Function Description

The primary function of the QIR100H is to detect movement in its monitored area by analyzing signals from its infrared sensors. It achieves this through a sophisticated process of amplification, filtering, and digital analysis of detected signals. The detector is designed to identify changes in heat/temperature caused by the movement of a body, differentiating it from ambient temperature.

Upon power-up, the detector undergoes a self-calibration phase, indicated by the red LED blinking three times, followed by the yellow LED lighting up. During this 60-second period, the monitored area must remain free of obstacles and moving people to ensure accurate calibration. After calibration, the yellow LED turns off, and the detector enters operational status.

When movement is detected, and the temperature difference is significant enough to trigger an alarm, the 'ALARM' output activates, and the red LED lights up. The device also incorporates tamper protection, with a 'TAMPER' output activating if the lid is opened, signaling potential sabotage.

The QIR100H offers adjustable sensitivity, allowing installers to fine-tune its detection capabilities. While changing sensitivity doesn't always alter the detection range, it does impact the detector's ability to sense subtle changes in heat or temperature. This feature is crucial for optimizing performance in various environments and reducing false alarms.

Usage Features

The QIR100H is designed for wall-mounting at an installation height of 2.2 meters, providing a maximum detection range of 15 meters and a 90° detection angle. It supports various balancing methods for integration into alarm systems, including N.C./N.O. (normally closed/normally open), single balancing, double balancing, double zone balancing, and double zone balancing with EOL (End-Of-Line) resistors. These options allow for flexible wiring configurations to communicate alarm and tamper signals to the control panel, potentially using a single control panel input for both.

The detector's programming is managed via two buttons, P1 and P2, and a series of LEDs on the PCB. P1 is used to enter and exit the programming menu and navigate through options, while P2 is used to change parameter settings. The LEDs provide visual feedback, indicating the selected parameter (solid ON) and its value (flashing). This intuitive interface allows installers to customize settings such as infrared sensitivity (levels 1, 2, or 3), LED behavior (enabled/disabled), alarm pulse count (1 or 2), and signal minimum duration (3 seconds or 1 second).

The device also includes a default reset function, activated by simultaneously holding down P1 and P2 for 10 seconds while powered up. This restores all programming menus to factory settings, indicated by the sequential lighting of all four LEDs.

The QIR100H is available in "pet immune" versions, specifically designed for applications where animals up to 25 kg might be present, preventing false alarms caused by pets.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the QIR100H primarily involves ensuring proper installation and periodic testing. Installers are advised to avoid touching electronic components to prevent damage and maintain detector reliability. If cleaning is necessary, only a soft cloth should be used.

The installation process requires careful attention to avoid drilling into water pipes, gas pipes, or electrical ducts. It is also critical to select a suitable mounting location, avoiding sources of interference such as reflective surfaces, direct airflow, air-conditioning systems, windows, steam, oil fumes, infrared sources, power lines, neon lamps, and objects that can cause rapid temperature changes (e.g., stoves, refrigerators, ovens). The detector's field of detection should not be obstructed, even partially.

The detector should be mounted with the alarm-LED strip above the lens. While an optional XBK100 swivel can be used for mounting, it's important to note that this voids the anti-dislodgement function, which detects removal from the mounting surface.

Regular testing of the device is recommended to ensure its continued proper functioning. In case of issues, the manual provides details on troubleshooting and programming adjustments. The manufacturer, Inim Electronics S.r.l., emphasizes that repairs or replacements should only be carried out by authorized personnel using devices marketed under the Inim Electronics brand.

The manual also outlines the proper disposal of the product at the end of its working life, adhering to differentiated waste collection systems for electrical and electronic equipment, promoting environmentally compatible disposal and recycling. This commitment to sustainability is part of the overall product lifecycle considerations.
