For boats equipped with an L6 Verado, when turning the steering wheel, the helm pump forces
hydraulic uid through hoses to and from power assist pump, located on the port side of the bilge.
The power assist pump then pushes uid to the steering cylinder which is connected to the ller arm
on the engine. The cylinder moves the ller arm to either port and starboard, depending upon the

moves the ller arm to either port and starboard, depending upon the direcon the steering wheel is
turned.
