RANSOMES T-PLEX 180
OPERATORS MANUAL
OPERATING THE MACHINE
Read the safety instructions.
Before starting the engine check the following:
(a) Fuel tank has been filled with lead free petrol.
(b) Engine sump has been filled with correct
lubricating oil (see engine specification).
Check dipstick.
STARTING THE ENGINE
1. Open the fuel tap, situated underneath the
fuel tank at the rear of the machine.
2. Ensure that the drive to the cutting cylinders is
disengaged and the units are in the lifted
(transport) position.
3. Pull out the choke control knob. If the engine is
warm, the choke will not be required.
4. Set the throttle control lever to a 'mid' speed
position.
5. Turn the starter key clockwise to the 'start'
position and the engine will start. If engine
fails to start within 10 seconds wait a further 30
seconds before attempting to start the engine
again.
NOTE:- The key will automatically return to the 'run'
position when released from the 'start' position.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT operate key switch whilst
engine is running.
6. Always allow the engine to warm up
sufficiently before full load and maximum
speed is applied, otherwise the life of the
engine will be shortened.
TO STOP THE ENGINE
1. Disengage the cutting cylinder drive and raise
the cutting units.
2. Move the throttle control lever to the slow
position, and run on slow for a minimum of
30 seconds to prevent engine damage.
3. Turn the starter key to the 'off' position.
