Chapter 7: Software Upgrade
7.1. Introduction
The Type 150/400 Course Computer has the ability to implement software upgrades via
their NMEA port connected to a PC running Windows 9x or NT 4.0. This chapter
describes the upgrade procedure.
7.2. Minimum Requirements
• PC with an Intel 486 CPU and 16650 UART (refer to your PC’s handbook)
• The three program files should be installed on a local hard disk.
7.3. Connecting the Course Computer to the PC
Power off the Course Computer and connect a cable as shown to the PC’s serial port. The
connection of both NMEA –ve ports to ground is essential.
