Overview

The REBOTEC® Arnold 150/125 Patient Hoist is a Class I medical device designed to assist in changing the position of patients with mobility impairments, facilitating access to toilets, beds, bathtubs, bathing aids, and wheelchairs. It is intended for indoor use on even and slip-resistant surfaces, operated exclusively by a knowledgeable caregiver. The hoist is not designed for prolonged moving and transfer.

Function Description:

The Arnold Patient Hoist features an electric lifting mechanism that allows for stepless adjustment of the arm, enabling both lifting and lowering functions. It is network-independent, powered by a rechargeable battery unit. The device incorporates a spreadable chassis for enhanced stability, controlled by a foot pedal that allows the base frame members to spread apart, facilitating movement to the area of use.

Safety features are integral to the hoist's design. It includes an EMERGENCY OFF function that interrupts the drive unit and locks it into position in emergency situations or if proper operation is impaired. Mechanical and electrical emergency lowering functions are provided for patient safety in case of power failure or malfunction. Pinch protection is also integrated to prevent injury during operation. The rear castors are equipped with a locking brake and anti-swivel protection to ensure stability during use. The sling hanger, designed for mounting slings, can be rotated and is intended to hold, lift, and transfer patients. It is crucial to mount slings using all four mounting points to ensure even load distribution.

Usage Features:

The hoist is designed for ease of use and patient safety. The manual switch allows for intuitive control of the lifting and lowering functions; pressing and holding the respective button activates the drive unit, which stops automatically upon release. The control unit features a display that shows the battery charge level, with symbols indicating 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% capacity, as well as a standby mode. An acoustic signal sounds when the battery reaches 25% capacity, indicating the need for charging.

The EMERGENCY OFF switch, when pressed, locks the drive unit, preventing further operation. It can be released by turning it in the direction of the arrow. In situations where the manual switch is defective but the electrical system is functional, the electrical emergency lowering button on the control unit can be used to retract the linear drive. For mechanical emergency lowering, a red rotary grip on the drive axis can be turned in the direction of the arrow.

The spreadable chassis is operated by a foot pedal, allowing the base frame to expand for increased stability. The rear castors have a locking brake and anti-swivel protection, which must always be engaged when the hoist is in use to prevent tipping. The device is foldable for convenient transport or storage.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the safe and reliable operation of the Arnold Patient Hoist. A complete professional maintenance check is required at least once a year, in accordance with medical device regulations. Key maintenance aspects include:

  • Emergency Lowering: Must be checked at least twice a year.
  • Castors: Check for rolling smoothness and proper functioning; replace defective castors.
  • Drive Unit and Manual Switch: Check for proper functioning; replace defective items.
  • Cables, Connections, and Plugs: Inspect for damage.
  • Sealing Edges: Check the control and rechargeable battery unit sealing edges.
  • EMERGENCY OFF Function: Verify proper operation.
  • Accessories: Inspect for deficiencies.
  • Sling Hanger: The bolt and brass washer must be checked for abrasion annually; replace if heavily abraded.

The rechargeable battery should be recharged as soon as possible after discharge to maximize its lifetime. Batteries not in use for extended periods should be recharged every three months to prevent deep discharge. The charging process can take up to ten hours, with the battery display flashing during charging and lighting continuously when fully charged. After charging, the connection should be closed with a seal plug to prevent moisture ingress.

Cleaning should be performed using a mild conventional cleaning and disinfecting agent, followed by wiping with clean water and drying with a clean cloth. The maximum cleaning temperature is 35°C. Abrasive cleaning agents, aggressive solvents, or stiff cleaning tools must not be used. The emergency lowering mechanism should not be treated with oil, grease, or other lubricants, as this can lead to malfunctions.

REBOTEC provides a Maintenance Report for documenting maintenance and repair work, and spare parts and accessories should only be original REBOTEC components to ensure proper and safe functioning. Unauthorized modifications will void the product's conformity and warranty.
