Assembly Instructions

Pivot Bushing and Wear Plate Installation

Install pivot bushing and wear plate with proper orientation and lubrication.

Upper Wear Disc and Outer Cap Assembly

Install upper wear disc and outer cap using cap bolts, leaving them loose initially.

Torqueing Cap Bolts

Torque cap bolts to 150 ft-lbs, back off, then re-torque to 45 ft-lbs.

Mounting Sidewinder to Wings

Install Sidewinder™™ into mounting wings and torque bolts per Table 1 specifications.

Operation Instructions

Conventional Transport Mode

Using Sidewinder™™ as a standard pin box without the feature activated.

Sidewinder Transport Mode Activation

Activating the Sidewinder™™ feature for 90-degree towing.

Universal Wedge Orientation

Determine the correct orientation of the universal wedge for your specific hitch.

Lubricating Wedge and Kingpin Area

Apply grease to wedge surfaces, kingpin, and skid plate for smooth operation.

Wedge Adjustment and Securing

Adjust wedge by tapping it forward and tightening wedge bolts.

Hitching Procedure

Trailer Height Adjustment for Hitching

Adjust trailer height so pin box is 1/2-1 inch below skid plate for proper engagement.

Visual Hitch Engagement Check

Verify no space between pin box and hitch for secure connection before towing.

Pull Test Procedure

Perform a pull test to ensure trailer is securely hitched before moving.

Pre-Trip Checks and Maintenance

Before Each Trip Checklist

Perform checks on equipment torque, bolt tightness, and wedge engagement.

Regular Maintenance

Lubricate surfaces, keep paint intact, and perform seasonal disassembly.
