Volvo IPS-Rwplacing Engine Fuel Filter
1. Close the fuel valve located on the inlet side of the
pre-fuel fi lter.
2. Install an appropriate pan to catch any fuel leakage
under the fuel fi lter.
3. Remove the electrical wiring under the fuel fi lter.
4. Unscrew the fuel fi lter using a metal banded wrench.
You can obtain one at most automotive box stores.
5. Clean the surfaces of the fi lter bracket.
6. Lubricate with engine oil the sealing rings at the fi lter
bottom and the center rubber seal.
6. Install the new fuel fi lter by hand until the fi lter seal
just touches the bracket mating surface. Tighten 1/2 turn
further. Reinstall the water trap cables.
7. Open the fuel valve on the inlet side of the pre-fi lter
and bleed the pre-fi lter as explained.
8. Bleed the engine fuel fi lter as explained in “Bleeding
the fuel system”.
9. Start the engine and check for fuel leakage.
DO NOT FILL THE NEW FILTER
WITH FUEL BEFORE REASSEMBLY
SINCE CONTAMINATES
MAY GET INTO THE SYSTEM
AND CAUSE DAMAGE.
