Tweaks, fixes, new functionality or new content are all good reasons to upgrade
THEC64 firmware to the latest version. Using THEC64 should be as enjoyable as
possible and the upgrades are a way to improve that experience on a semi-regular
basis.
FIND YOUR CURRENT BUILD VERSION
If you are unsure which build your THEC64 is currently running, look in ‘System
information’, which is available in both Classic and Carousel modes:

Classic mode – From BASIC, press and select ‘Options’, then ‘Device
settings’ and finally ‘System information’
•
Carousel mode – From the HOME screen go to the OPTIONS (spanner) icon
underneath the GAMES CAROUSEL and select ‘System information’
Now look for the ‘Build’ information, including the ‘Build date’.
Unless told otherwise on the Retro Games Ltd web site, all firmware upgrades are
accumulative. This means if you have not yet upgraded, you get all of the previous
upgrades within the latest firmware upgrade file.
HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE
1. Use a computer capable of browsing the Internet and copying files to a
correctly formatted USB stick. See APPENDIX B for details about formatting
USB sticks.
2. Visit retrogames.biz/thec64 and choose Upgrade from the menu
3. Follow the links to access the latest firmware build. Check that the latest version
on the website is greater than the version installed on your THEC64
