No disk has been inserted and/
or the current disk has been
ejected
Insert a disk using ‘Media
access’
File is not compatible with the
current computer model
Check that the file is
compatible. See CHAPTER 8

Disk is using the AD
(accuratedisk) setting but file
is NOT a d64/g64 file
d71 or d82 virtual disk files
don’t need AD (accuratedisk)
settings enabled, and will fail to
load if they are. So CHAPTER
8 for details
Disk begins to
load then fails
to complete
loading
Disk needs to have additional
settings using filename flags or
CJM file
Typically, some disks only
load successfully if AD
(accuratedisk) and/or RO
(readonly) are applied. See
CHAPTER 8 for details
Tape file fails
to complete
loading
Some tape files take a long
time to load and do not give
any sign of progress on-screen
during the loading process
Patience is a virtue. Wait a
while longer before assuming
the tape file isn’t loading
Virtual cartridge
VIC 20
cartridge file
fails to load
and only shows
BASIC
The cartridge file is for a C64,
not the VIC 20
Try loading the file on a C64
computer model
The cartridge file is one of a set
and does not load on its own
(Classic mode only)
Try auto-loading the next
cartridge file in the set (Classic
mode only) and see if the
VIC20 cartridge program then
runs
The cartridge file needs
additional settings using
filename flags
Check what the cartridge
expanded memory requirements
are on the VIC20. See
CHAPTER 8 for further details
