What to do if the RIDGID 258 700 motor does not start?
    • A
      Ashley Herman PhDJul 28, 2025
If the RIDGID Cutter's 700 motor doesn't start, first, check the power supply for any interruptions. Next, inspect the fuse and replace it if it's blown. Finally, examine the brushes to ensure they make contact with the armature; replace worn brushes if necessary.

Why is my RIDGID 258 Cutter motor overheating?
    • L
      llutzAug 4, 2025
If the RIDGID Cutter motor is overheating, it might be due to continuous operation causing an overload; allow the power drive to cool down after extended use. Another possible cause is insufficient cooling air; clean the air-vent opening of the motor to improve ventilation.

What to do if the pipe does not rotate in the RIDGID 258?
    • E
      Evelyn CookAug 11, 2025
If the pipe isn't rotating in the RIDGID Cutter, it could be that the cutter wheel hasn't been preloaded with 2 or 3 pumps before starting the 700 power drive; pump 2 to 3 strokes on the foot pump after the cutter wheel contacts the pipe before starting the 700 Power Drive. Alternatively, the cutter wheel may not be properly assembled; ensure the cutter wheel is free to rotate in either direction in the hub assembly.

Why is the RIDGID 258 wheel not tracking?
    • T
      Tara IbarraSep 12, 2025
If the cutter wheel on your RIDGID Cutter isn't tracking properly, ensure the cutter is firmly clamped to the pipe by pumping several times before starting the power drive. Also, check that the pipe is properly supported; short lengths of pipe must rest squarely on the cutter frame rollers, and long lengths must be supported with stands so the cutter can locate itself to the pipe.
