Diagnostic Connections (continued)
Catalytic converter equipped MerCruiser engines (referred to by Mercury as
engines incorporating their Emission Control Technology or “ECT”) have two
diagnostic connection options. e rst option is the industry standard 6-pin
OBD-M connector as shown in Figure 21 and Figure 22 below.

e OBD-M connector provides access to EPA mandated engine diagnostic data
and fault codes. On MerCruiser ECT engines this connection does not provide
access to manufacturer specic information, tests or conguration settings as is
commonly available on other manufacturer’s engines via this connector.
Note: MerCruiser non-ECT export engines have this connector disabled.
Please refer to page 32 in this manual for additional details associated with
connecting the TechMate Pro scan tool to the engine’s OBD-M port.
