Symptom
The fuse for the towed
vehicle’s 12-volt outlet
keepsblowing.
The compressor comes
on when AddaBRAKE is

Solution
Electrical
Checkthe12-voltoutletfusesize.Itmustberatedat15ampsorhigher.Ifthe
towedvehicle’sfuseisnotsufficient,installtheoptional12-voltoutletkit(partnumber
9332;refertothe“OptionalEquipment”section).
AddaBRAKE’scompressormayactivateaboutevery10minutesduetonormalair
dissipation.Ifthecompressoractivatesrepeatedlywithin10minutesorless(when
notbraking),contactROADMASTER—youmayhaveanairleakinAddaBRAKE.
• AddaBRAKEwillactivatewithintwosecondsafterthemotorhomebrakepedalhas
beendepressed.Holdthemotorhomebrakepedaldownforatleasttwoseconds;
checktoseeifAddaBRAKEactivates.
• VerifythatAddaBRAKEisreceivingabrakelightsignalfromthemotorhome—with
atestlight,checkforvoltageatthefemalebulletconnector(attheendofthegreen
brakesignalwire)whichispluggedintotheAddaBRAKEwiringharness.Ifthereis
novoltage,checkthebrakesignalwireconnectionsatthetowedvehicle’selectrical
harness(Referto“Attachthebrakesignalwire”under“InitialInstallation.”).
• Checkthetowed vehicle’sbatteryvoltage.If thebatterydoesn’t have sufficient
power,AddaBRAKEwillnotoperate.
• Check for a red light at the end of the 12-volt power cord. If there is no light,
thereisnopower.
• Checkthefuseontheendofthe12-voltpowercord.Ifthefuseisblown,po-
larityatthe12-voltoutletmaybecrossed,withpositiveconnectedto ground,
andgroundtopositive.Correctthewiring,andreplacethefuseinthe12-volt
powercord.
• An optional 12-volt outlet kit may be required. Refer to “Before you begin the
initialinstallation,”inthismanual.
• The operating temperaturerange is between-2° and
+
150° F (-19° to
+
66°
C). AddaBRAKE will not operate at temperatures above or below this range.
• Hold thetowed vehiclebrake pedal down,forapproximately20 seconds. Ifthe
audioalertactivates,thenoneofthetwoconnectionstotheLEDmayhaveworked
loose.Checkboththepowerandthegroundconnections.
• Make certain that the motorhomemonitor patchcord between thetwovehicles
issecurely connected.(Or,ifyouhaveconnectedthemonitorwiringtothetowed
vehicleandmotorhomeelectricalsockets,makecertainthatthetowedvehicle-to-
motorhomeelectricalcordissecurelyconnected.)
• ThemonitorLEDisconnectedtothetowedvehicle’sbrakelightcircuit.Ifthefuse
inthe circuit isblown, the LED will not operate.Check the towed vehicle’s brake
lights—iftheyilluminatewhenthebrakepedalisdepressed,thefuseisgood.
• Verify that there isanelectrical groundbetweenthemotorhomeandthetowed
vehicle.
• DidyouinstalltheoptionalBrake-LiteRelay?Ifso,makecertainthatthemonitor
wireisconnectedtothetowedvehicle’sbrakelightwireafterthebrakelightswitch,
butbefore theBrake-LiteRelay — connectingthe wireanywhereelsewillprevent
themonitorLEDfromfunctioning.
Ifthetowedvehiclehasbeenwiredfortowing(asopposedtoinstallingataillight
wiringkitor magnetic tow lights),diodes must be attached tothewires. Ifdiodes
arenotattached,electricalfeedbackthroughthebrakelightwirewillpreventAdd-
aBRAKEfromreleasingbrakingpressureuntiltheextendedbrakingprotectionmode
overridesthebrakelightsignal,afterapproximately15seconds.
