Usage Features:

The Quantum Marina Pedestal is available in various configurations to meet diverse marina needs:

  • Socket(s) only: Provides electrical power outlets.
  • Socket(s) + kWh Meter: Includes electricity metering for usage tracking.
  • Socket(s) + Tap: Offers both electrical power and potable water access.
  • Socket(s) + kWh Meter + Tap: A comprehensive solution with power, metering, and water.

The pedestal's louvred luminaire provides local illumination and acts as a pathway marker. The LED lamp activates automatically in response to changing light levels via a photocell, with a built-in delay to prevent flickering.

Optional features and accessories include:

  • BerthMaster remote management for enhanced control.
  • Telephone and data connections for communication needs.
  • Branding vinyl for customization.
  • Heat trace tape for frost protection.
  • Panel colours and materials to match marina aesthetics.
  • Galvanised steel ground mounting base for secure installation.
  • Electric and water metering for accurate billing.
  • Switching and control mechanisms.
  • External Water Tap(s)/Faucet(s).
  • Deck fixing plate(s).

Installation:

Installation must be performed by properly qualified and competent personnel in accordance with local legislation. Key steps include:

  1. Site Selection: Choose a secure and environmentally safe location that meets current legislation, with suitable mains power and water supply.
  2. Water Supply Preparation: Ensure the water supply is clean and flowing freely, thoroughly flush pipework to remove debris, and clean/replace filters before connecting to the pedestal.
  3. Damage Check: Verify that the unit and accessories are undamaged in transit. Report any damage to the courier and supplier immediately.
  4. Mounting:
    • With Mounting Base: Prepare the ground, set the base, feed cables upward through the middle, concrete the base, and allow it to set (lip 2-3mm above surface).
    • With Mounting Plate: Prepare the ground, set the plate, feed cables upward through the middle, and secure with appropriate fasteners.
    • Without Base/Plate: Prepare a firm, flat ground area, ensuring it's possible to secure the pedestal with appropriate bolts (e.g., M8 x 100mm Anchor Bolts into concrete).
  5. Pedestal Installation:
    • Remove front and rear panels using hand tools (do NOT use power tools to avoid damage).
    • Cut appropriately sized holes in the pedestal base and rubber splash mat for cable and water pipe entry.
    • Fit the mat over cables and onto mounting studs/points.
    • Carefully lift and lower the pedestal over cables/pipes onto the mounting position, aligning holes if a base is used.
    • Route cables and water pipes to appropriate lengths.
    • Secure the pedestal to the ground with correct fasteners.
    • Trim excess rubber from the splash mat.
    • Secure incoming cables to the gland plate (UK models).
    • Terminate supply cables and connect to the pedestal as per schematics.
    • Ensure all cable connections are secure.
    • Connect water supply (if required), ensuring pipes are flushed and filters are clean.
    • Install external water tap(s)/faucet(s) carefully, using thread sealing tape to ensure a tight, vertically aligned connection without forcing.
    • Remove all debris from the enclosure.
  6. Power-Up:
    • Turn ON water supply and test for leaks.
    • Ensure electrical components are dry before applying power.
    • Switch ON internal switchgear for power and LED lamp.
    • Switch ON power to the unit and test in accordance with regional Electrical Wiring Regulations.

Commissioning:

Before handover to the customer, perform the following checks:

  • Switchgear: Test protection for each socket according to regulations.
  • Sockets: Test polarity of each socket according to regulations.
  • Meters: If fitted, ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • LED Lamp: Cover the light sensor to confirm the lamp illuminates, then uncover to ensure it switches off.
  • Water: Flush the site water system, clean/replace filters, and visually check water flow/pressure.
  • Secure: Refit front and rear panels using hand tools, ensuring no cables are trapped and fasteners are not overtightened. Confirm the installation is complete and safe.
  • Clean: Ensure all information labels are present and visible, and clean the pedestal.

Maintenance:

  • General Cleaning: Regularly clean external surfaces with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive materials, mineral/petroleum solvents, degreasers, hose pipes, jet washers, or steam cleaners, as these will invalidate the warranty.
  • Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect the exterior for damage. If damage affects safety, isolate the equipment and prevent use until repairs are completed.
  • Water System:
    • Allow water systems to flow regularly to prevent calcification and accumulation of water-borne solids, which can affect meter accuracy.
    • If unused for several weeks, flush the system and assess meter accuracy before relying on readings.
    • Remove and clean components with mineral deposits (scale) using a proprietary de-scaling chemical suitable for food preparation equipment, following manufacturer instructions.
    • Ensure water filters and strainers are clean and free from debris.
    • After any work on the site water system, flush it and clean filters before water reaches the pedestal.
  • Switchgear Test: Perform a functional test every six months by pressing the test button to ensure deactivation. If it fails, isolate the equipment until repairs are completed.
  • Electrical Inspection: The pedestal and switchgear should be electrically inspected in accordance with current legislation for the installation location. If it fails, isolate the equipment until repairs are completed.

LED Bulb Replacement:

The GX53 LED bulb in the lighting head can be easily replaced.

  1. Safety First: Turn OFF electrical power to the pedestal.
  2. Access: Remove the fixings securing the front fascia panel using hand tools (do NOT use power tools). Carefully ease the panel away to access the interior.
  3. Dome Removal: Locate and remove the 2x 5mm hex bolts and washers securing the clear dome to the dome base. Carefully lift the clear dome and set it aside (the louvered diffuser will remain attached).
  4. Bulb Removal: Turn the old GX53 bulb counter-clockwise to release it from the fitting, then lift it out and dispose of it responsibly.
  5. New Bulb Installation: Place the new GX53 LED bulb (same specification: GX53 LED, 9W / 230-240V, 4000K) into the fitting and turn clockwise to lock it.
  6. Reassembly: Place the clear dome onto the pedestal, ensuring it sits on the rubber seal. Refit and carefully tighten the 2x 5mm hex bolts and washers (do not overtighten).
  7. Panel Refitting: Refit and secure the front fascia panel, ensuring no electrical cables are damaged or strained.
  8. Power Restoration: Apply electrical power to the pedestal.
