5. IEEE-488 INTERFACE
5.1 Description
The IEEE 488 Interface consists of circuits, along with the Series 800's µProcesssor,
performing in accordance with the IEEE-488 Standard to provide two way ASCII communication
between a controller and the Rotek Series 800. With this Interface the Rotek Series 800 functions as
a Listener to receive data and status instructions. As a Talker, the Series 800 sends data and status
information.
In the Listener mode the following data can be received and acted upon.
Volts: 3 digits and alphas
Volt-Amperes: 5 digits and alphas
Energy/Events (811A/811AE only): 5 digits and alphas
Deviation range: 1 digit and alpha
Frequency: 1 digit and alpha
Power factor: 2 digits and alphas
The Status instructions that can be received are:
Operate
Standby
Calculate
Volt-Ampere, Kilovolt-Ampere-sec or Number of Events (811A/811AE only)
Remote mode
Power polarity
The Series 800 transmits the following status information:
Deactivate state (Standby)
Activate state (Operate)
Data Available (Record switch pressed or events count over)
800 µP is busy
800 is timing or counting (811A/811AE only)
800 is in the REMOTE state
800 requires service
The following data information is transmitted by the Series 800
Deviation
Energy Delivered
A Rotek Series 800 with the IEEE Interface can be programmed by a remote controller to any
amplitude setting, frequency, power factor or deviation range. It can also be placed in the Remote
