2. Standby is also a timed signal occurring after the squelch has been activated and output relay
deactivated.
3. Data Available occurs whenever the Record Button is momentarily depressed (all Series 800) or
the Events Count mode has displayed the energy delivered (811A/811AE).
5.4 Default Conditions
Upon power up or after a Select Device Clear, the output registers within the Series 800 are
set to the following default conditions and will remain stable until changed.
Field Default
F0 All zeros or ROM revision
F5 All zeros or option code
F6 All zeros
Remote/local Local
G 1
Operate/Standby Standby
P : (10) (PF = 1)
L 1
H 2
D 0
Please note that the IEEE-488 address is read into the µProcessor memory only during the power up
condition. If the address code is changed for any reason a cold power up is required to read the new
address code.
During the power up certain information is written to the front panel displays. This information and
location is as follows.
Voltage field PROM revision
Current field IEEE-488 address code
VA field Option number
5.5 Asserting the Remote State
Prior to transmitting control messages to the Series 800 an "R" command must be received
to assert the REMOTE state. The reception of a Select Device Clear (SDC) command is required to
restore the manual mode. The IEEE-488 address is set using the address switch located on the µP
module and is read by the µP at power up. The IEEE-488 address used is represented as a five digit
binary number with the first position being the least significant and the fifth digit the most significant
bit. The decimal equivalent of the binary number is used in the address syntax. The Series 800
address is factory set to the equivalent of the decimal number appearing in the current field display at
power turn on.
5.6 Programming Examples
This section describes the control of the Series 800 with an IEEE-488 Interface and a
controller. It does not provide a complete test routine but rather shows typical instructions, assuming
