Corrections for the MSB-001A should be used for 400Hz measurements and for 50/60Hz
measurements in the testing of 800/811AE.
4.2.3 Voltage Distortion Test
Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 4-5, and measure the distortion directly in percent
on the Distortion Analyzer. In some localities where strong radio interference is present the distortion
analyzer may detect this interference and indicate erroneous readings. Should this be the case, it
may be necessary to attach a wave filter to the input terminals of the distortion analyzer to eliminate
the effect.
4.2.4 Current Distortion Tests
Configure the equipment as in Figure 4.6 and measure the distortion directly in percent on
the distortion analyzer as described in 4.2.3 above.
4.2.5 Power Accuracy Tests
Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 4-4 and measure the power, in normalized units,
taking care to apply the current and voltage to the proper range terminals of the MSB-001A. Set the
Series 800 for the power to be measured referring to Table 4-2, Power Accuracy. Use corrections for
the MSB-001A at 400Hz and, if 800/811AE, also at 50/60Hz.
The following examples are provided to illustrate the required procedures.
1. Example 1: Currents < 1 Amp
Set the Series 800 to 120V, 1 Amp, 50Hz and 0.5 PF lagging. Connect the voltage to the 120V
terminals of the MSB-001A and the current to the 1 Amp terminals. Connect the DVM to the
output terminals of the MSB-001A, and set the DVM range to l0 volts. Place the 800 in the
Operate state and allow time for a steady state reading. The DVM reads between 5.012 and
4.988 volts (±0.12% of VA setting).
2. Example 2: Currents > 1 Amp, <
5 Amp
As in Example 1, except connect to MSB-001A 5 Amp terminal. For a setting of 120V, 5 Amp,
0.5 PF lagging, the DVM reads between 5.012 and 4.988 volts.
3. Example 3: Currents > 5 Amp, <
10 Amp
As in Example 1, except connect to MSB-001A 10 Amp terminal. For a setting of 120V, 10 Amp,
0.5 PF lagging, the DVM reading is between 5.012 and 4.988 volts.
4. Example 4: Currents >10 Amp, <
50 Amp
As in example 1, except connect to MSB-001A 50 Amp terminal. For a setting of 120V, 10 Amp,
0.5 PF lagging, the DVM reading is between 5.0135 and 4.9867 (±0.135 of VA setting).
Repeat the above procedure for the other Power settings listed in table 4-2, Power Accuracy.
