4.4.2 Relays
On a yearly basis, the contacts and terminals (if in a socket) of all relays are treated by:
1. Cleaning with light application of pure grain alcohol. Do not apply the alcohol to any other
part of the relay but the contacts.
2. Thereafter apply a thin coating of "Cramolin", Ciag Laboratories, Inc., PO Box J, Escondito,
CA 92025, U.S.A., with a fine artist's brush, wiping off the excess. Be careful not to strain
relay elements in the treatment process. Relays which are sealed to prevent entrance of
dust should be resealed.
4.5 Troubleshooting
The purpose of this section is to describe logical procedure for troubleshooting.
WARNING
Hazardous voltages are present on some circuit elements
within the Series 800 Calibrators.
CAUTION
The Series 800 contains many CMOS elements and static
electricity can destroy these devices. When Trouble-
shooting, discharge static electricity from the body
by touching ground first. If CMOS devices are removed
from modules, store them in conductive foam or other
suitable conductive material.
Table 4-5 lists a number of common faults and malfunctions. If the fault cannot be identified
from the table, circuit tracing procedures should be used. An extender board may be necessary to
examine the circuits; consult the factory.
4.5.1 Access
Access to the circuits is accomplished by removing the top cover, which is secured by two
screws at the rear. The inner guard cover should then be removed and the interconnecting cables
re-installed. Turn the line power on but do not enter any data.
4.5.2 Power Supply Voltages
Measure the power supply voltages and verify that all meet the limits listed below.
Voltages Limit Location
+15V +14.5V to +15.4V DC U17, R3 08-119-001 (Oscillator)
-15V -14.6V to +15.4V DC U17, R2 08-119-001 (Oscillator)
+1.8V +1.7V to +2.2V DC U17, R5 08-119-001 (Oscillator)
-12.6V -12V to -13V DC U17, R4 08-119-001 (Oscillator)
+5V +4.8V to +5.2V DC IC-11 pin 20 08-111-001 (µProcessor)
