The Russell Hobbs Elegance Digital Filter Coffee Maker, model RHFD01, is designed for household use and offers a blend of convenience and functionality for coffee enthusiasts.
Function Description:
This coffee maker is designed to brew ground coffee efficiently. It features a digital timer control pad with a blue LED display, allowing users to set the current time and program a delayed start for brewing. The "ON/OFF" button serves multiple purposes: a single press turns the appliance on and starts brewing (illuminating red), a double press activates the preset delay mode (illuminating blue), and a triple press turns the appliance off. The "PROG" button allows users to view the current time with a single press and adjust or view the start time for the brewing process with a double press. "HOUR" and "MIN" buttons are used to adjust the respective time units.
A key feature is the Automatic Pause and Anti-drip system, which enables serving coffee while the machine is still brewing. This system prevents coffee from dripping onto the warming plate when the carafe is removed, though it's recommended not to remove the carafe for longer than 30 seconds to prevent overflow. After brewing, a carafe warming plate keeps the coffee warm for a short period. The machine automatically shuts off after 35 minutes of brewing or warming, a safety and energy-saving feature.

The brewing process typically lasts about 10 minutes. Once brewing is complete and no more coffee is flowing, the glass carafe can be removed. The appliance can be left on to keep coffee warm, or turned off. If another pot of coffee is desired immediately, the appliance should be switched off and allowed to cool with the water reservoir lid open to prevent hot water splashing during refilling.
Maintenance Features:
Regular cleaning and descaling are crucial for maintaining the appliance's performance and lifespan.
Descaling:
Mineral/limescale deposits can affect brewing time and cause excessive steaming. Descaling is necessary when these symptoms appear.
- Use only commercially available appliance descaler.
- Follow the descaler's instructions.
- After descaling, run the machine with plain cold water (without coffee) two or three times to rinse out residues.
- Do not use ground coffee during descaling, and do not consume the water used for rinsing.
Cleaning and General Maintenance:
- Always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet when not in use, before cleaning, or when adding/removing parts.
- Ensure the machine is turned OFF and cooled down before cleaning.
- The glass carafe, filter holder, and removable permanent filter should be cleaned by rinsing in warm, soapy water, then rinsed and dried well. A soft brush can be used if necessary.
- Spilled coffee grounds from the inner casing should be wiped with a paper towel, then with a damp cloth.
- The exterior of the appliance should be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth without detergents or additives. Do not allow water to enter the appliance or the stand.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid, or hold it under running water.
- Avoid using wire brushes, abrasive items, bleach, acidic, or abrasive detergents/solvents as they can damage the finish.
- Store the appliance in a clean, dry place after ensuring all parts are dry.
- Never wrap the power cord around the appliance.
