Overview

The Ryobi Model TS1300 is a 10-inch (254 mm) miter saw, designed for cutting wood and plastic. It is a double-insulated power tool, emphasizing safety in its design by eliminating the need for a three-wire grounded power cord. All exposed metal parts are isolated from internal motor components with protective insulation.

Function Description:

This miter saw is primarily used for crosscutting wood and plastic, as well as for cutting miters, joints, and for applications like picture frames, moldings, door casings, and fine joinery. It is engineered for dependability, ease of operation, and operator safety, promising years of rugged, trouble-free performance with proper care.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Blade Diameter: 10 inches (254 mm)
  • Blade Arbor: 5/8 inch (16 mm)
  • No Load Speed: 5,000 RPM
  • Rating: 120 Volts, 60 Hz-AC Only
  • Input: 14 Amperes
  • Cutting Capacity (90° Crosscut): 2 x 4 and 4x4, 2 x 6 (Flat only)
  • Cutting Capacity (45° Miter): 2 x 4
  • Net Weight: 29 lbs. (13.2 kg.)
  • Motor: Powerful 14 Amp motor with ball bearings and externally accessible brushes.

Usage Features:

  • Carbide Tipped Blade: A 10-inch (254 mm) carbide-tipped saw blade is included, suitable for most wood cutting operations. Accessory blades are available for fine joinery cuts or plastic.
  • Miter Lock Handle: Securely locks the saw at desired miter angles.
  • Lock-Off Lever: Prevents accidental starting by requiring the lever to be slid back before the switch trigger can be squeezed.
  • Spindle Lock Button: Locks the spindle in a stationary position for safe blade installation, changing, or removal.
  • Trigger Lock: Allows for the installation of a padlock through a hole in the switch trigger to prevent unauthorized use.
  • Positive Stops: Provided on the miter table at 0°, 15°, 22-1/2°, 30°, and 45° (left and right) for quick and accurate angle selection.
  • Electric Brake: Quickly stops blade rotation after the switch is released.
  • Fence: Provides support to hold the workpiece securely against the miter table for all cuts.
  • Self-Retracting Lower Blade Guard: Made of shock-resistant, see-through plastic, it retracts over the upper blade guard as the saw is lowered into the workpiece.
  • Work Clamp (Optional): Secures the workpiece to the fence, preventing creeping towards the blade, especially useful for miter cuts. Standard C-clamps can also be used.
  • Mounting Holes: Four bolt holes are provided in the saw base for secure mounting to a workbench or table, ensuring stability during operation.
  • Table Extensions (Optional): Increase the work surface to 36 inches wide, providing support for long workpieces.
  • Stop Block (Optional): Useful for making repetitive cuts to the same length, installable on either side of the saw base.
  • Dust Guide/Dust Bag (Optional): The dust guide directs sawdust, and an optional dust bag collects it to keep the work area cleaner.
  • Adjustments: The saw is factory-adjusted for accuracy, but users can perform adjustments for squaring the miter table to the fence, squaring the saw blade to the fence, and depth stop adjustments. These adjustments are crucial for maintaining cutting accuracy over time and after shipping.
  • Safe Operation: Emphasizes reading the manual, wearing safety glasses, protecting lungs and hearing, keeping guards in place, maintaining a clean work area, avoiding dangerous environments, keeping children and visitors away, not forcing the tool, using the right tool, dressing properly, avoiding accidental starting, using proper extension cords, keeping blades clean and sharp, keeping hands away from the cutting area, and never operating under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Cleaning: Avoid solvents on plastic parts; use clean cloths to remove dirt and carbon dust.
  • Lubrication: All bearings are pre-lubricated for the life of the unit under normal operating conditions, requiring no further lubrication.
  • Extension Cords: Guidelines for selecting appropriate extension cord wire gauge to prevent power loss and overheating.
  • Brush Replacement: Features externally accessible brush assemblies that should be periodically checked for wear. Replacement involves removing the brush cap, checking brush length (replace both if less than 1/4 inch carbon remains), and reassembling with new brushes.
  • Service: For repairs or parts, users are directed to contact a Ryobi Authorized Service Center. The manual emphasizes using identical Ryobi replacement parts to avoid hazards or product damage.
  • Inspection: Regular inspection of tool cords and extension cords is recommended, with immediate replacement if damaged.
  • Alertness: Users are advised to stay alert, exercise control, and not operate the tool when tired or rushed.
