Side Blind Zone Alert Off This mes‐
sage indicates that the driver has
turned the system off.
Side Blind Zone Alert Unavailable
This message indicates that the
SBZA system is disabled because the
sensor is blocked and cannot detect
vehicles in the blind zone. The sensor
may be blocked by mud, dirt, snow,
ice, slush, or even heavy rainstorms.
This message may also activate dur‐
ing heavy rain or due to road spray.
The vehicle does not need service.

Service Side Blind Zone Alert If this
message appears, both SBZA dis‐
plays will remain on indicating there is
a problem with the SBZA system. If
these displays remain on after contin‐
ued driving, the system needs serv‐
ice. Take the vehicle to your dealer.
Lane departure warning
The Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
system observes the lane markings
between which the vehicle is driving
via a front camera. The system de‐
tects lane changes and warns the
driver in the event of an unintended
lane change by visual and acoustic
signals.
9 Warning
It is the driver, however, who al‐
ways bears full responsibility for
the lane change maneuver.
Criteria for the detection of an unin‐
tended lane change are
■ no operation of turn signals
■ no brake pedal operation
■ no active accelerator operation or
speeding-up
■ no active steering
If the driver is active, no warning will
be issued.
Activation
The Lane departure warning system
is activated by pressing the ) button.
The illuminated LED in the button in‐
dicates that the system is switched
on. When the control indicator ) in
the instrument cluster illuminates
green, the system is ready to operate.
The system is only operable at vehi‐
cle speeds above 37 mph and if lane
markings are available.
When the system recognizes an un‐
intended lane change, the control in‐
dicator ) changes to yellow and
flashes. Simultaneously a buzzing
sound is activated.
