190 Vehicle care
Disengage the wiper blade and re‐
move.
Check and clean all wiper blades reg‐
ularly. We recommend washer fluid
for cleaning. If poor wiper perform‐
ance is experienced, clean the wind‐
shield with washer fluid. This is par‐
ticularly important if the car has been
through an automatic car wash, as
these sometimes leave a wax coating
on the windshield. If wiper perform‐
ance is still unsatisfactory, fit new
blades.
Bulb replacement
Switch off the ignition and switch off
the relevant switch or close the doors.
Only hold a new bulb at the base! Do
not touch the bulb glass with bare
hands.
Use only the same bulb type for re‐
placement.
Replace headlamp bulbs from within
the engine compartment.
When changing headlamp bulbs on
the left side, remove filler neck of the
washer fluid container by pulling out.
Caution
Only on halogen headlight sys‐
tems the bulbs can be replaced.
Halogen headlights
Headlamps have separate systems
for low/high beam and daytime run‐
ning lights 1 (outer bulbs) and addi‐
tional high beam 2 (inner bulbs).
