Vehicle care 181
The vehicle should be fully assem‐
bled and all other work stopped
while headlight aiming is being per‐
formed.
The vehicle should be normally loa‐
ded with a full tank of fuel and one
person or 160 lbs.
Tires should be properly inflated.
Headlight aiming is done with the ve‐
hicle's low-beam headlights. The
high-beam headlights will be correctly
aimed if the low-beam headlights are
aimed properly.
To adjust the vertical aim, do the fol‐
lowing:
1. Open the hood 3 183.
2. Locate the aim dot on the lens of
the low‐beam headlight.
3. Measure the distance from the
ground to the aim dot on the low‐
beam headlight. Record the dis‐
tance.
4. At the wall measure from the
ground upward (A) to the recor‐
ded distance from Step 3 and
mark it.
5. Draw or tape a horizontal line (B)
on the wall the width of the vehicle
at the height of the mark in Step 4.
Caution
Do not cover a headlamp to im‐
prove beam cut-off when aiming.
Covering a headlamp could cause
excessive heat build-up, which
could damage the headlamp.
